Questions you should ask your real estate consultant

Imagine you’ve found the house you like. Your main requirements are met: The neighbourhood, size, distribution, orientation, essential needs and of course the price. You’ve visited the house, once, twice, maybe even three times, so there’s no doubt, this is the house.

Everything is fine, everything fits, what you’ve seen and what you’ve been told convince you but at this point it is convenient to “see beyond”, that is, to ask your real estate consultant a few questions whose answers are not included in the property’s file.

You’ve hired a professional and her advice is important, she knows the neighbourhood well, the hidden defects that may appear, she’ll have visited the property more times than you and she’ll have talked to the owner and, for example, the doorman.

Don’t forget that your real estate consultant is on your side, she defends your interests, the buyer’s, she doesn’t represent any selling party. Therefore, her answers should be taken into account to make the final decision of buying or renting a home or office.

The first thing I would ask is: Would you buy this house?
And, what do you find most attractive? And the least?
Is there anything about the house or the neighbourhood that you find disturbing?
Can we get better terms?
What type of renovation do you recommend?
Estimated budget?
How long has the house been on sale?

If your conviction is as strong as your emotion, congratulations, you’ve truly found your house.
