09 Feb I want the moon, I want a house
I’m looking for a house so, why not, I write down my wish list. If I’ve decided to buy a house it is because am looking for something that the current one does not have, because I rent and would rather own or because I have decided to invest and I’m looking for a good return. In any of the three cases it is important to do “The list”.
At he beginning the wish lost will be just that, a list of wishes, an ideal. That’s not bad, it’s a starting point. This will be a moment of reflection, to see if we really know what we want. Is the search area well defined? And the size and layout of the house? Are we looking for a new construction or maybe the age of the building doesn’t matter? Do you want a large living room? Does it need to have a terrace? Do we want an attic? Do we like traditional neighbourhoods or do we prefer quieter areas with green spaces? How is the street we want to live in?
To what extent we are willing to face a renovation? Which heating system do we prefer? What is the rent we hope to get? Perfect! I have it, I know which I want to buy.
Now we need to solve the final equation. What budget do we have? The budget should be realistic and we have to bear in mind the price of the house, the possible reforms and the expenses, about 10% of the purchase price.
We often find that with the budget we have the house we want does not exist. We have to be flexible, go over our wish list and think about the importance of each requirement.
I want the moon. Will I get the moon? Surely, I only have to rethink “my moon”, my house.
